Terms of Service

Last updated 11 October 2026 · version 2026-10-11

Welcome to Lovers

These Terms are an agreement between you and Lovers [company legal name, registered address and company number]. They explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.

By creating an account you accept these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Age Declaration. When you buy a plan, you also accept our Refund Policy. Please read them; we have tried to keep them clear and human.

Who can use Lovers

You must be at least 18 years old (or older, if the law where you live requires it), able to enter into a binding contract, and not barred from using the service by law. You must not have been banned from Lovers before.

One account per person. Everything you tell us, including your date of birth, must be true, and your photos must show you.

Your account

Keep your password safe and don’t share your account. You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has access to it, change your password and tell us straight away.

Community rules

Lovers is for kindness, honesty and respect. You agree not to:

harass, threaten, bully or intimidate anyone, or post hate speech;

post nudity or sexual content on your profile, or send sexual content to anyone who has not clearly welcomed it;

scam anyone, ask for money, advertise, spam, or use bots, scripts or scraping;

impersonate anyone, create fake profiles, or create an account for anyone under 18;

do anything illegal, or infringe anyone else’s rights, including their privacy and intellectual property;

try to get around our limits, safety features or a moderation decision, for example by creating a new account.

Safety tools and moderation

You can unmatch, block and report anyone at any time. Reports are reviewed by trained members of our team, not decided automatically. When someone reports a conversation, our team can see a copy of it and the photos or files in it.

If you break these Terms, we may give you a warning, remove a photo or your bio, suspend your account for a set time (you are hidden and cannot interact until it ends), or ban it permanently. A banned email address cannot be used to sign up again. Where the law requires it, we may inform the authorities. We choose the measure based on how serious and repeated the violation is.

We always tell you in the app what we decided and why. You can appeal any decision in the app within 6 months, and a different member of our team reviews it. While restricted, you can still read the reason, appeal, download your data or delete your account. This does not affect your right to go to court or, where available, to use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.

We do not run criminal background checks and cannot guarantee anyone’s identity or intentions. Please read the safety tips in the Help Center before meeting anyone.

Fair use and limits

To keep Lovers fair and free of spam, some actions have limits: for example how many profiles you can swipe on and how many conversations you can message each day (depending on your plan), and how quickly messages, likes, reports and data downloads can be made. If you reach a limit, the app will tell you and you can carry on later.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and share it only as needed to run Lovers (for example, showing your profile to other members or delivering your messages). The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept for safety reports or required by law, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to share it.

The Lovers app, its design and its brand belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for its intended purpose while you follow these Terms.

Plans and payments

Lovers is free to use, with daily limits. Paid plans (Basic+, Advanced, Advanced+ and Premium) add more, for example more swipes and chats per day, a profile boost, seeing who liked you, priority matching or a Premium badge. What each plan includes is shown on the Plans screen and again at checkout before you pay.

Prices: each plan can be paid monthly or yearly. The price is shown in the app before you buy: on the web in euros [including VAT / applicable taxes: confirm], and on iPhone, iPad and Android by the App Store or Google Play in your local currency. Discount codes may sometimes be offered.

Where you pay: on the web, through Stripe’s secure checkout; on iPhone and iPad, through your Apple ID in the App Store; on Android, through your Google account in Google Play. Payment details never pass through Lovers. Your plan switches on as soon as the payment is confirmed to us, usually within seconds.

Auto-renewal: your plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year, for the same period, and you are charged again, until you cancel. For App Store and Google Play subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next renewal.

Cancel anytime: on the web, in “Manage subscription” on the Plans screen; for the App Store or Google Play, in your store account’s subscription settings (“Manage subscription” in the app takes you there). After cancelling, you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for, then your account returns to Free. Deleting the app or your Lovers account does not cancel a subscription, so please cancel it first.

One plan at a time: you can only have one active plan. To change to another plan or billing period, cancel your current plan and wait for it to end (the app shows you the date); you can then choose your new plan. (Apple may also let you switch between Lovers plans in your Apple ID’s subscription settings; if you do, your plan follows that change automatically.) If an accidental second subscription is ever created, it never changes your plan: on the web it is cancelled and refunded automatically, and for the App Store or Google Play our support team will help you get it cancelled and refunded through the store.

Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails, you keep your plan for a short grace period while the payment provider tries again. If it still fails, the plan ends. If a payment is refunded, the plan it paid for ends at that point.

Price changes: if we change the price of your plan, we will tell you in advance, and the new price only applies from your next renewal. The App Store and Google Play may also ask for your agreement. If you don’t want to continue, you can cancel before then.

Starting right away: at checkout you ask for your plan to start immediately and acknowledge that, as a result, you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal that consumers in the EU and UK otherwise have for online purchases.

Refunds: please read our Refund Policy, which you accept at checkout. Purchases through the App Store or Google Play are also subject to Apple’s or Google’s terms.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. It is hidden straight away and can be restored by signing in within 40 days; after that it is erased permanently.

We may suspend or ban accounts that break these Terms, as described under Safety tools and moderation. If we ever stop offering Lovers, we will tell you in advance [and explain what happens to paid plans: confirm].

Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep Lovers safe, working and available, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, or that you will find a match.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the conduct of other members, on or off Lovers, or for indirect or consequential losses. [Liability cap, if any: adapt per jurisdiction.]

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Apps from the App Store and Google Play

If you downloaded Lovers from Apple’s App Store: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app (if any); to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims relating to the app, including product liability, consumer protection, legal compliance and intellectual property claims.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

If you downloaded Lovers from Google Play: these Terms are between you and us, not Google. Google is not responsible for the app, its content or its support. Your use of Google Play, and anything you buy through it, is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Play’s payment terms, which apply to the store itself (for example billing and refunds of store purchases).

Giveaways and contests

From time to time we run giveaways and contests. Premium members, current or past, can take part. Where the law requires it, there is also a free way to enter that needs no purchase, with the same chance of winning, explained in that giveaway’s rules. You must be 18 or over and live in a country where the giveaway is open; it is void where prohibited. Our staff and their families cannot take part.

There are two kinds. In a prize draw (for example for a car or a home), the winner is picked at random from all valid entries, in a way that can be checked and, where the law requires it, in front of a notary or official. In a contest (for example for a wedding or a holiday), you create something, such as a TikTok or Instagram video about Lovers with #loversapp, and the winner is chosen by that contest’s criteria, such as a judging panel or the most likes. Likes, views or followers that were bought or faked, and content that is not your own or breaks the law or our Community rules, are disqualified.

Each giveaway has its own official rules, published on our website and in the app before it starts: who can enter and how, the dates, the prizes and their value, how winners are chosen and told, and the deadline to claim a prize. For that giveaway, its rules apply if they differ from these Terms. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash unless the rules say so, and taxes or costs the rules do not cover are the winner’s, where the law allows. We contact winners only from our official email address and never ask for a password or a payment. Giveaways are organised by us alone: Apple, Google, TikTok, Instagram and other platforms are not sponsors and are not involved in any way. When you enter a contest with your content, you keep ownership of it and let us show it to run and promote that contest and Lovers, as its rules describe.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when Lovers changes or the law requires it. If a change is important, we will let you know before it applies, in the app or by email. If you don’t agree, you can stop using Lovers and delete your account.

Law and disputes

[Governing law and courts.] If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in its courts. If something is wrong, please write to us first at support@getlovers.app; we will do our best to put it right.
